Pathway to COVID-19 Recovery

  • Prepare for expanded COVID-19 vaccination for seniors, younger adults, disabled and homebound persons and ultimately all North Miami residents
  • Safely reopening businesses and supporting them through grants to ease overhead costs
  • Provide technical assistance and resources to youth and parents navigating virtual schooling 
  • Forming partnerships with the Department of Health to educate residents about the COVID-19 vaccination

Utility Billing Assistance – “Water Bill”

  • Year-round fundraising to support the City’s existing Emergency Assistance Utility Fund
  • Redirecting Waste Pro penalty fees to support the Emergency Assistance Utility Fund
  • Renegotiating sanitation contract to reduce excess services and associated costs
  • Increasing collection rate through service restructuring

Fiscal Responsibility 

  • Efficiently and holistically capturing ALL City revenues and expenditures
  • Reducing excess spending from the City’s Budget
  • Securing sponsors for all major City events (i.e. Parade, Halloween, 4th of July, Cultural Heritage Month Celebrations, etc.)

Job Creation

  • Investing in responsible development projects to create sustainable long-term jobs for City residents (i.e., Bright Line stop in North Miami)
  • Launching the signature Kassandra Timothe Teach to Fish Initiative, a curriculum-based program teaching resident how to successfully create and manage their own small businesses
  • Leveraging partnerships with community-based organizations to provide assistance to businesses and residents
  • Utilize the North Miami CRA to support small business and increase investment opportunities in the City
  • Encouraging use of Small Business Start Up Grants to increase access to capital and resources (i.e. SBDC, SBA, Beacon Council, Career Source, HACOOF, GNMCC)
  • Activating residential farmers markets, pop-up shops and innovative business incubators to build our community by recycling the North Miami dollars locally

Enhanced Customer Service

  • Year-round customer service training for employees
  • Introducing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to accurately track residents’ concerns and requests to deliver actionable insights and strategic improvements.
  • Lobby HUD and the Florida Housing Authority for Affordable Housing projects similar to the Encore Project in Tampa, FL https://encoretampa.com/

  • Address Code Enforcement/Building Concerns and On-going Education

Safety/Community Policing

  • Introducing the Know Your Officer’s Name Program, a Signature Kassandra Timothe initiative designed to ensure residents and NMPD engagement on platforms such as Next Door, Facebook or virtual monthly meetups.
  • Deterring crime through increased NMPD visibility citywide
  • Adding educational campaigns and crime prevention programming
  • Reinstituting the Neighborhood Crime Watch program and expanding the City’s Ring Camera program for residents
  • Obtaining grant writers to find additional funding for license plate readers, Shot Spotter and other NMPD Crime Prevention initiatives

Youth Engagement

  • Mentoring program with North Miami businesses to equip NoMi’s youth for success beyond high school
  • Virtual programs/ internships with celebrity guests to actively engage youth on a variety of relevant subject matters
  • Implementation of the Silvia B. 500 Volunteer Program for NoMi’s Youth and award good actions year round
  • Expand existing enrichment programs (i.e. PAL of North Miami, Library Teen Program, MOCA Youth Programs and Community Based Organizations)

A Sustainable NoMi

  • Furthering Councilwoman Keys’ Resilient NoMi initiatives by reaching  sustainability goals (i.e. Resident’s Guide to Sustainability and Resiliency https://www.northmiamifl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8362/Citizens-Guide-to-Sustainability-and-Resiliency-PDF?bidId= )
  • Improving transportation efforts through strategically locating transfers, stop locations and safe pedestrian movements
  • Increasing drainage repairs to mitigate reoccurring flooding throughout the City and creating a comprehensive flood mitigation plan with Miami-Dade County
  • Improving the City’s CRS Rating through outreach initiatives
  • Advocating for a South Florida Water Management Committee composed of all Cities to address the quality and lifespan of our water supply
  • Increasing awareness of funding opportunities for repetitive loss properties

NoMi Unites

  • Launching the Love Thy Neighbor Initiative, a signature Kassandra Timothe initiative encouraging all residents to check on your neighbors, host community clean-up events, help repair your neighbor’s swale, plant community gardens , etc.
  • Activating an Adopt-A-Grandparent Initiative, a signature Kassandra Timothe program connected residents with elderly pen pals to prompt regular virtual check-ups for NoMi seniors quarantining alone
  • Hosting monthly walk and talks within different areas in District 2
  • Access to mental health services for residents struggling with depression, anxiety and health concerns while coping with COVID-19.
